With the triumphant outcome of Isabela State University – Echague Campus’ assessment during the 24th Philippine Quality Award (PQA) cycle, passing not only Level I but Level II, Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino, University President, set out to invite leaders from all campuses, including officials from Caraga State University, to a 3-day Philippine Quality Award (PQA) and Times Higher Education Impact Ranking (THEIR) Planning Workshop at Water Sports Complex, Capitol Hills, Cabarroguis, Quirino.
PQA is Philippines’ highest level of national recognition for total quality management, and it is given to public and private institutions and organizations for exceptional leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, measurement, analysis, and knowledge management, workforce focus, process management, and results. (Manila Times). ISUE is the first among the state universities and colleges (SUCs) in Region II to receive the award.
Dr. Oscar G. Bangayan, Campus Administrator, together with Dr. Warlito D. Antonio, Campus ARA Director, Dr. Benjamin E. Bulawit, Jr., Planning & MIS Director and Ms. Deanne Angel M. Luis, Campus Secretary / Executive Assistant, attended the event as representatives from ISU- Angadanan Campus.
The resource speaker, PQA Assessor, QMS and EMS Auditor and Quality Consultant (DOST Region 2, MIMAROPA & CAR), Mr. Juan C. Aquino, Jr., presented and discussed PQA Education Criteria and PQA Post Learning from categories 1-7 on the first and second day of the training, while Ms. Anna Marie M. Bahala, THEIR Project Leader, covered the features of Times Higher Education Impact Ranking. On the third day, a one-on-one consultation with the speaker per campus was held to discuss the plan of action for the upcoming assessment.
As much to Dr. Aquino’s desire to submit all campuses for the 25th Assessment Cycle of PQA, Mr. Aquino suggested that big campuses such as ISU Cabagan, Cauayan and Ilagan should take the lead while smaller campuses will follow on the next cycles. ISU-AC is set to merge with ISU-Echague and ISU Jones for the PQA Assessment in 2025.
“ISU Angadanan Campus is indeed very lucky for being a part of this Training-Workshop on PQA. I believe this activity will help us a lot on the campus towards our success in our PQA journey. Even though it’ll be years before our turn comes, it is vital for us to continue learning more about PQA and its processes so we can further strengthen our skills and broaden our knowledge on the matter, in preparation for our assessment.” said Dr. Bangayan.
